✨E-comm Images Do Not Get the Attention It Deserves✨

E-comm (e-commerce) also known as PDP (product display page) images do not get the attention it deserves. These images are the bread and butter of all e-comm businesses and one of the main ways to differentiate yourself from other websites. The way your PDP images are showcased tells a very good story of the type of business you want to portray.

Stunning, high-quality images enhance the overall visual appeal of the product online store, leading to increased customer engagement and conversion rates.

The difference between a Photo Editor and a Retoucher:  a Retoucher brings an elevated look to your PDP images which justifies the premium value of your products.

Photo editors will edit an image by removing the basics such as dust, scuffs, and distracting clothing wrinkles, but only when you provide detailed markups which are time-consuming and limited to what you think needs to be done.

It is not only a Retoucher’s job to tackle all initial refinements but they also know how to ENHANCE and ELEVATE the image. The main reason you would hire a Retoucher over a Photo Editor is that a Retoucher already knows how to “bring out the best" feature of each product while having the ability to efficiently retouch the image utilizing non-destructive Photoshop techniques.

A Retoucher can help tidy hair flyaways or color balance skin tones, but they can also bring creative elements to your images. Below are examples of different ways to showcase a PDP image. Color treatment makes a world of difference and can convey the look and feel of a specific season or the personality of your brand.

Soft & Summery

Diffused soft color treatment creates a soft and summer look.

Gray Vignette for Fall

Warm skin tone against a cooler gray background with a slight vignette helps pop the outfit from the background.

Cooler Tones for Winter

Subtle cool undertones are common color treatments used for winter season products.

Black and white imagery conveys sophistication. Pro tip - it also makes for quicker retouching as it does not require skin tone color balancing.

Adding an elevated textured background can also bring another level of sophistication to your PDP images. Blues were added to the highlights of the skin, while a subtle red shift was added to the shadows to compliment the model against the background.

This abstract background is not a simple composite. Accounting for lighting differences, a subtle warm yellow wash in the highlights and cool cyan in the shadows of the model's skin tone were added to create a cohesive story.
